I’ve been dreaming of experiencing the expat life for years. Extensive research produced a list of possible countries, including Panama, Costa Rica, Columbia, Ecuador, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. This was before Portugal was the hot “go to” destination it is today. In 2018 I visited Porto and was smitten. After a two-year pandemic delay I finally booked a one-way flight. It was time to either embark on this big adventure, or stop talking about doing it.

Now I’m here to stay, at least for a year, while I work to get my D7 visa. In that time, I’ll learn the city and more of the beautiful country called Portugal.
